Ed.M, Education, Harvard Graduate School of Education
MFS, Poetry & Modern Letters, Vermont College

Don has helped schools and small businesses with communications solutions, building websites and marketing materials to increase their exposure on the web or to streamline internal and external communications. At schools on the East and West Coast of the U.S., and in Switzerland and Italy, Don has helped individual teachers integrate technology into their classrooms by finding software and building online learning environments customized to their needs. He also built school-wide systems for internal communications (from online sharing environments to email and newsletters) as well and marketing tools for the schools.

In Santa Barbara, Don has worked with small businesses to build their online image and increase their exposure on the web. Take a look at the Gallery section to peruse some of these sites. At Hazel Wood Communications, Don is responsible for web design and coordinating all the technological aspects of web solutions.

Giulia Orth

BA, MA, Philosophy & Modern Languages, Oxford University (Corpus Christi College)
MSc, Animal Behavior & Applied Animal Welfare, University of Edinburgh

Giulia travelled to the USA to work at Tufts University’s School of Veterinary Medicine. With Nicholas Dodman, head of the Animal Behavior department, she focused mostly on companion animal behavior therapy. She also was part of the development team that created an interactive dianostic DVD for cat behavior. At the Harvard Field Station in Concord, Mass., Giulia had the privilege of assisting ethologist Donald Griffin on field studies of a wild colony of beavers. Giulia also worked as an editor and writer for various companies in the U.S.

Several years ago, Giulia travelled to the Monty Roberts International Learning Center in California to learn about equine behavior and Monty Roberts’ non-violent horse training techniques. Learning a whole new language, the silent language of horses, was an awesome, unforgettable experience and the reason why Giulia began to work at Flag Is Up Farms for Monty Roberts. She helped develop and expand the company's website, www.montyroberts.com, and helps coordinate the Monty Roberts e-newsletter.

Giulia currently works on the core team of Monty Roberts Equus Online University and other projects pitched to improve the welfare of horses worldwide. She is a freelance writer and editor who loves to communicate with individuals of any species. In her sporadic spare time, Giulia enjoys the company of animals and children. Her role at Hazel Wood Communications is to write content and manage client communications.
